How do I teach?
My teaching philosophy emphasizes deep work, focusing on mindset shifts and customized strategies rooted in your cultural and professional context. Through engaging role-play activities and real-world simulations, we'll make learning practical and enjoyable, fostering a human touch that sets you apart in an AI-driven world.
Below is the general overview of the structure I follow:
We will focus on 4 types of media to enhance learning.
Article(s) from sources such as HBR, Forbes, NPR and other such publications.
Podcast(s) that will include overall business English topics to specialized areas involving your current profession as well as the profession you wish to pivot to
Video(s) in the form of interviews and TED talks from various personalities
Audiobooks related to careers and communication
Class structure:
Classes are organized around themes to facilitate easy comprehension and learning. We will choose themes based on your priorities and interests. Students are encouraged to discuss, debate, comment, and criticize on the various article(s), video(s), podcasts etc. The goal is to develop clarity in speech and thinking by expressing yourself freely without feeling judged.
Sample Lesson Plan:
Duration: 60 minutes
Introduction (5 minutes)
Welcome and introduction to the trial lesson.
Brief overview of the lesson plan.
Goal Setting Discussion (15 minutes)
Open discussion about the student's goals, aspirations, and plans.
Encourage the student to share their career objectives and any challenges they may be facing.
Facilitate a dialogue to identify areas of improvement and growth opportunities.
SMART Goal Development (20 minutes)
Explain the concept of SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound).
Collaboratively develop SMART goals based on the student's aspirations and discussed areas for improvement.
Ensure that each goal is clearly defined, quantifiable, realistic, aligned with the student's objectives, and has a deadline for completion.
Interactive Learning Activities (15 minutes)
Engage the student in interactive activities tailored to their goals and learning preferences.
Depending on the student's needs, activities may include role-playing exercises, case studies, or skill-building tasks related to business English, corporate communication, job coaching, or interview strategies.
Reflection and Feedback (5 minutes)
Encourage the student to reflect on the lesson and share any insights or observations.
Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Discuss next steps and how the student can continue their learning journey.
Conclusion (5 minutes)
Summarize key takeaways from the lesson.
